Demenager a Paris avec une Nissan Pathfinder 3.3 SE (2000)

Bonjour a tous! Please forgive me for not writing in french ( I will learn it as soon as I arrive in your country). We are moving to Paris this summer and take with us our Nissan Pathfinder 3.3 SE (2000 model) Middle-East specs. It has run 125.000 km. without any problems and I hope to drive it a few more in France.

My question: are there any problems concerning importing, driving, maintenance that I have to think about. This model Pathfinder was never introduced in Europe and maybe it will be difficult to get parts.
Any help or suggestions are very welcome.

Please write in french. I have to learn it!

Merci beaucoup and I hope I can participate on this forum (in french) asap.

The real problem is not with part but the legal owner document.
If this car has never been imported in European Union, then it will be very difficult legally import it.

I have diplomatic plates so I think (and hope) that will not be a problem.
I move from Syria to France. Selling this vehicle here is not an option since the market for used cars is totally saturated. I want to use it here for the weekend shopping and short (fuel-economics) holiday trips.

Thanks for tips and tricks.

No problem if you have a registration << diplomatic corps >> :
CD are untouchable and thus cannot be pursued. ;) :)

Hi there
France has more stringent import laws than many EU countries. I guess on CD plates you'll be ok but if you actually want to get French plates it will be more difficult.
The French authorities ask for a Constructors Conformity Certificate (COC) which from my Nissan Terrano 2, purchased in Holland cost 146€ and supplied in about 3 weeks by Nissan France. If the vehicle has never been imported into any EU country this will be a stumbling block.
Other than this you need:
1. A French “Control Technique”
2. A bill of sale or receipt for the vehicle.
3. You need to go to the French Tax office to fill out a form exonerating you from VAT.
4. You need proof of residence
5. Your ID
6. And a Registration application form filled out.
But as you said in your post the fact it is not a European spec car will be the hardest bit to get round.
Cheers
Gareth

Merci Seb, Christian Styling and Gareth. I think the paperwork is not the biggest problem for me. Maybe finding a garage and parts for servicing will be the hardest. I'll check what I can bring from here.

Has any of you ever seen this model in France? Will I be an idiot driving this car over here?

BTW Christian and Gareth I love your avatars. I used to own a 1985 hard-top 6 cylinder 3.0? liter in Senegal. Great car. Great memories. After that we bought a Terrano II 2.7 (5 door) that we used in Uganda. Perfect car and we were very sorry to sell this.

We were very fortunate to live in beautiful countries with great opportunities to go 'outdoor'.

Hi
Never seen this car in France, No worries about being an idiot ... you'll have a way to go to catch some of the cars you see on the roads. I'd think many Nissan cars share parts, but perhaps you could order stuff off the internet and find a friendly local garage that could do the work for you.
cheers

Hello Damas !

is your car a right or a left hand driving ? Il will not be very confortable and secure to drive in France with a right hand driving car...

Tout le moyen orient roule comme nous à droite...donc logiquement sa voiture Mid-east spec n'aura pas ce problème
