Mais il me semble avoir lu que 4.44 et 1:59 incompatible

a choisir je préfère les courtes et un moteur plus puissant comme ça moins de tr/min sur route avec mes mud j'ai déjà l'impression que le moteur mouline trop

A choisir j'aurais préféré du 215/75R16... mais LE pneu qui m'intéresse... donc ce sera 225/75R16

près reprise d'adhérence avec un mud bien cramponné en 71cm de diamètre, ou avec un profil plutôt mixte en 75cm... Après c'est la façon de conduire (et le stock de pièces détachées dans le coffre

Hi Rally. Is this experience from a rally situation or proper off-road driving? I am very intrigued how it will go off road as I really have no idea how the diff works...

The box is out of a Version 6 RA, Jap import by a mob in QLD. Was sold as "in great condition" but when it arrived it had a faulty centre diff coil and a bearing gone in the transfer case. Last weekend was a huge weekend of gearbox building, 30+ hours of solid work. Came out of it with a completed box ready to be installed. Managed to get everything I wanted in to it. L series low, front helical, 4.44 final drive with .825 5th to compensate and DCCD centre which I rewound myself.

I had to take a fair bit off the 4.44 crown wheel to get it to fit so it will be interesting to see how it goes and how noisy it is.

Now to find time to install it and try it out. Unfortunately wont be for a few weeks though. It is going to be a very tense moment driving for the first while as this is the first gearbox I have built and for all I know it may explode under load...

A few things to note for anyone else doing this.

This front helical diff had axles that go into the gearbox with spring clips to hold them in. These did not come with the box and I had to shave the ends off the forester ones to get them to fit. I also had to take a tiny bit off the circlips.

To get the DCCD to fit you need both transfer gears and the rear housing of the DCCD transfer case. They will not fit in the standard AWD transfer case. This may not be true for pre 1999 boxes which had the earlier style centre diff but AFAIK you will still need at least the lower transfer gear.

Swapping the 5th gear from the RA box to the SF box is a bit of a pain and the synchro needs to be swapped as well and the internal diameter is different. The RA synchro is also a different style, the same as the synchro on the low range.

To get the 4.44 to fit with the L series low mean you have to take a lot of the crown wheel. I think it should be fine but I would recommend that you wait and see if my box fails before trying this....

Je pense quand même que pour avoir besoin d'une transmission en 4.44 faut avoir de très gros pneus, si on ne veut pas être à plus de 3000 tours à 100km/h

Il a mis la 5ème d'une STI version 6 RA avec un rapport de 0,825

C'est vrai aussi que si tu mets un H6…sinon, y'a un nouveau de Tasmanie qui a 2 Legacy eh bien il préfère le 2.0 turbo au H6 et puis il y a Venom qui a eu pas mal de soucis avec son H6…je ne veux pas te décourager, hein

le H6 est presque parfait: non-interférentiel, poussoir hydro Je veut garde le GPL... et entre un EG33 et un 2,5L soch... je pense que pour la fiabilité le 3,3L l'emporte !

Le sien est un EZ30 avec chaine de distribution. Il consomme beaucoup d'huile et les soupapes sont un cauchemar à régler, les compressions sont trop basses…et apparemment, c'est une mécanique moins accessible que les H4. Bon, il a quand même plus de 300mkm

Si je passe en H6 un jour, ce sera uniquement un EG33 pas de réglage de soupapes, distri très similaire à l'EJ20/EJ22 au pire si ça lâche on en remet une et on repart

Le EG33 est construit sur base du EJ22, donc niveau fiabilité, ça devrait aller et moins de "bazard" autour du moteur que sur les EZ

Pour trouver des mud en 215/75R16 c'est la misère y'a pas de choix !
